About

4C Digital is Colton Cranston.

Systems architect and engineer. I design, build, and open-source AI systems — then hand them over to the teams that have to live inside them.

I've spent my career in the space between operations and software — sales, ops, product, development — which is a long way of saying I think about AI the way an operator does, not the way a vendor does. Where does it create real leverage? Who has to live inside the system once the demo is over? And when the dust settles, who actually owns it?

I'm the systems architect behind FutureBuild's open source ecosystem and Velocity by BuilderWire, and the architect of GableLBM. That's the part I care about most: I don't just advise on AI, I ship it — into real, demanding industries, for the people who actually use it. My method is simple to say and hard to do — decomposition, inquiry, and AI collaboration — and it's the same method behind my own tools, which I run on infrastructure I own.

4C Digitalis my R&D lab and on-demand engineering practice — separate from FutureBuild, which serves small and family-owned businesses in the built environment. Here, the work is architecture, engineering, and open source: systems built to be understood, forked, and owned, not rented from a vendor. Same conviction as everywhere else I build: families and communities over corporations and private equity; your people and your independence over any vendor's roadmap. If that resonates, we'll probably get along.

I also speak on architecture, open source, and sovereignty at industry and technical events, for teams wrestling with the same questions.
